I would actually say you’re ahead of the curve. Lambdas can be run in VPCs (or at least as if they were running in a VPC); a growing number of AWS services will get VPC endpoints. If you’re running a Lambda outside a VPC, you have no observability on the network calls that Lambda is making. I would expect networking to become increasingly important for serverless in the future.
